Starting in 2020, while finishing his Master’s thesis at the University of Texas at Austin, Kyle worked on getting a certificate in digital marketing. From there, he became engrossed with working in Google Analytics: Universal Analytics, Google Analytics 4, and Google Tag Manager.

Shortly after graduating from the certificate program, Henkel was hired as a teaching assistant for the digital marketing certificate position. While teaching Google Analytics at the University of Texas at Austin, Henkel prepared coursework for the upcoming Google Analytics 4 platform. He would then be hired at Nehmedia inc. in 2021 as their lead analyst and data visualizer, less than one year after completing his certificate. Later, he would complete the Google Data Analytics certificate.

Kyle most recently worked at Helium SEO where he worked closely with various teams and all clients from HeliumSEO and Venture Automotive, LLC to ensure tracking (from Google Tag Manager), data population (in Google Analytics 4), and data visualization (via Google Looker Studio / Google Data Studio). Kyle led the Google Analytics 4 migration for the 100+ clients and enterprises as well as a brand new data dashboard and visual report for shareholders and analysts.

Kyle currently works at Pizza Hut Corporation as their Google Analytics Engineer (beginning November 2023). He will be leading the migration process from Universal Analytics 360 to Google Analytics 4 360 (GA4 360).

Kyle is currently working on the “Google Cloud Certificate: From Data to Insights with Google Cloud” to hone his capabilities with Big Query.

How I Started

Before being a Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager Specialist, Kyle Henkel received multiple degrees in music composition. Henkel received his bachelors from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX and his masters from the University of Texas at Austin in Austin, TX.

Henkel is an award-winning composer who has had his works performed all over the world. His most recent performance was done by the world-renowned Dallas Wind Symphony where they performed his brass ensemble work AWAKE! His most popular work though is a solo piece written for bass clarinet (and others) called Whata-Bass Clarinet! A Menu of Miniature Solos. The piece is inspired by the various menu items from the infamous Texas-based fast food chain: Whataburger.

In his free-time, Kyle can be found working out in preparation for the next upcoming Spartan Races. When he’s not lifting unnecessarily heavy items, he can be found exploring new worlds - reading! His current obsession is with Brandon Sanderson’s “The Cosmere” which is a universe (kind of like the Marvel and DC Comics universe) that spans multiple different series, equaling about 15 books! When he’s not reading, he can be found yelling at the computer screen as he and his twin brother play Teamfight Tactics, an auto-battler chess game. And lastly, he thanks his lucky stars every day he is bald because if he had hair, he would be ripping it out every Saturday as he watches the Texas Longhorns football team play.
